MOUNT VERNON— Students Alaina Alderman, Branden Lewis, Carolina Murray, and Sarah Batchelor led chapel in worship with “Great Are You Lord” and “How Great Thou Art” Tuesday, October 4. Pastor of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst, Brad Waters, then preached a message on revival. Waters began his message by reading the third chapter of Jonah, in which Jonah proclaims God’s message to the people of Nineveh, causing the people to turn from their evil ways and repent. Waters explained that “the greatest need we have right now is we need a sweeping revival,” just as the people of Nineveh experienced. He then proceeded to list the four requirements needed for the revival to take place: strong preaching, stirred people, sincere praying, and a secure pardon. Waters asked the congregation, “Are we not moved anymore about our God-less state? Your desire ought to be to stop at nothing to see God work in your life.” He then explained that “there is only one thing you can do; say ‘God, do something in our lives,’” and concluded his message with an invitation.
