MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker’s chapel service on Tuesday, October 18 began with student-led worship. After the time of worship, Dr. Steven Echols, President of Brewton-Parker College, began his message on three fruits of the spirit; patience, kindness, and goodness. This message was a continuation of his message from last week in which he spoke on love, joy, and peace. To begin the message, Echols read from Galatians 5:22-23, where the fruits of the spirit are given. He then proceeded to explain each of these three fruits individually. “Patience,” he described, “is not sitting around doing nothing, it’s doing what God wants you to do while you wait on Him. Kindness means being gentle with one another,” he explained. “Ask God to give you the wisdom to know how to do it in a kind way that reflects Jesus,” he said about dealing with conflicts with other people. Echols then encouraged Christians to show goodness to other people. “We are not here to condemn the world, we are here to share Jesus Christ,” he concluded.
