MOUNT VERNON— Thirteen students from Brewton-Parker went to Confluence, an annual weekend conference through Georgia Baptist Collegiate Ministries that occurred on September 23-25. The conference took place at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough with Dr. Jeff Lorg as the speaker and music by I Am They. While there, students participated in games, worship, and services.

Lauren Clinton, a fifth year senior Early Childhood Education major, has been to Confluence five years in a row. Her most memorable moment from this year’s conference was when the Brewton-Parker students participated in a relay race. Despite having less people than their competitors, the Brewton-Parker team beat most of the other teams; proving that although Brewton-Parker is small, it is mighty. The theme for the conference was “Influence to Legacy,” one which left a special impact on Clinton. She reflected on the weekend, “It reminded me that we are all making an influence, whether positive or negative. I was shown that I should want to leave a spiritual legacy.”
Clinton noted that “if you have the opportunity to go to Confluence you should because it helps you connect with other people and gives you a time to get away from the worries of life and renew yourself and your faith.”
