MOUNT VERNON — Brewton-Parker’s Tuesday, November 15th chapel service began with Steve Edwards, Campus Pastor, sharing worship videos with the audience including “I Smile” by Kirk Franklin and “Oceans” by Hillsong. Following the worship videos, he began by asking the audience, “Have you ever been through anything?” Edwards followed up his question with a statement, “If you’ve been through something, people might judge you.” Continuing, he reminded the audience, “You have promise, you have purpose,” additionally quoting Genesis 39 and 41 regarding the struggle Joseph went through and his eventual reward. Edwards then posed the question, “If you knew everything you were going through was pushing you to grow, would you go through it?” He finished up his point by sharing, “If you’re in Christ, no matter what you go through, you automatically win, you cannot lose.” Edwards then shared about Paul’s transformation by saying, “Don’t allow your current situation to determine where you go,” and he reminded his listeners that “you have the power to be whatever you want to be, even if you made mistakes.” Finishing up, he shared, “If you get down for taking L’s, you lose. If you get back up, you win.” He then asked his audience members to join him in prayer on stage if they wanted to see a change in their lives.
