MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker’s January 31 chapel service began with a time of worship led by Asa Evans, Tyra Haley, Matt Haley and Branden Lewis. The ensemble led the students, faculty and staff in “Intentional” and “The Great I Am.” Following the fellowship in song, Dr. James West, professor of communication, was welcomed to the podium. West shared that his intention was to prepare students for the adversity that will occur in their lives. He accomplished this by sharing how Christians are attacked and what the Bible says about it. “While Satan may say that we are God or God is unavailable, the Bible argues that He is, ‘the great I Am,’ and Christians have authority in the name of Jesus,” West said. In closing, he stated, “plant yourself in the Word of God.”
