MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker’s February 21 chapel service began with Brewton-Parker’s own Voices of Truth singing “Glorious Day.” Following Voices of Truth’s performance, students Carolina Murray, Alaina Alderman, Olivia Brantley, Morgan Brantley, Sarah Batchelor, and Branden Lewis led worship with the songs “Your Grace is Enough” and “Blessed Redeemer.”
After the time of worship, Brewton-Parker President, Dr. Steve Echols, began the message by telling a personal account of his experiences during Hurricane Katrina. Echols explained that Psalm 46 was his comfort during that time because “it reminds us of who out God is.” He later when on to explain how God is a refuge, river, and ruler. “Your problems might seem overwhelming but problems are finite and aren’t you glad our God is infinite,” Echols explained. “Whatever your circumstances are,” continued Echols, “God can give you peace like a river.” He encouraged the congregation to surrender to God because “His way is the best way.” Sometimes in the most difficult times we discover who our God is,” he concluded.
