Brewton-Parker College plans to unite the entire Brewton-Parker family for a fun celebration on April 13-14. Alumni, friends, community members, and students are all invited to attend this celebration, which is named Baron Day after the college mascot.
The plans include events like the Family Fun BBQ on Friday, April 13. This picnic will include bounce houses, yard games, a mechanical bull, and a candy pucker station for entertainment. The fun will continue that night with the movie “Wonder” and popcorn.
Lajiness expects to have a large number of alumni represented at Baron Day. The alumni honors’ ceremony will be held on April 14. This ceremony will also feature an alumni choir of over 350 people. This year also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the graduating class of 1968. Members of this class or prior graduating classes will be able to participate in the Half-Century Club breakfast on April 14.
There are many more activities planned. A full schedule can be viewed at www.bpc.edu/alumni. The weekend includes a Little Baron program for children attending the weekend. Ages will be split with 0-5 year olds inside Gillis Gymnasium with experienced nursery workers. Ages 6-13 will participate in outside activities under the supervision of Brewton-Parker students.
The cost for the Little Barons program is $10 per ticket. Ages 14-17 will be $10 if they participate in the Baron 101 program. Adults will cost $25 each. Lajiness said: “Past years have been packed full of memories and good times, and we expect this upcoming year to be no different! You don’t want to miss out.”
While Baron Day celebrations doubles as an alumni weekend, the celebration includes events that will be open to the community for free. This includes the movie night on Friday and the Math and Science Festival on Saturday.
It is also an important day for 2018 graduates. Their pinning and induction into the Young Alumni association will occur on Saturday at 2:30pm. Families of the graduates are invited to witness this moment and to participate in the entire Baron Day celebration.
