We are expecting severe weather to affect the area Wednesday night. To ensure the safety of our students, Mt. Vernon classes will be cancelled for the rest of this week (October 9 – 12). Residents should make plans to evacuate campus as soon as possible. Please note that Newnan Site will continue with its current schedule until further notice.
Mt. Vernon offices will be open until Wednesday afternoon. Other than maintenance personnel, staff will not report to work on Thursday or Friday. As of now, all staff and faculty will return on Monday.
As students make plans to evacuate campus, we ask that they notify coaches of their travel/destination plans. Non-athletes will report to our Director of Residence Life, Tyra Haley.
Please know that our campus will be fully operational for our students who remain on campus. If we lose power, we have generators to ensure that food service will continue. Above all, BPC will take every precaution for sheltering students if high wind gusts occur.
We ask that resident students ONLY remain on campus if absolutely necessary. If they must remain, please note the following:
- Students MUST sign up for the Campus Alert System. If they have not done so already, they can visit bpc.omnilert.net (UN: BPC email | PW: password)
- The storm is predicted to hit campus Wednesday night. Expect power outage throughout the surrounding area. (Be sure to fully charge your phones)
- The cafeteria will continue to serve food, but only during the following hours beginning tomorrow and continuing through the weekend:
- Brunch: 10am – 1pm
- Dinner: 4pm – 6pm
We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates as needed on the website.
