Mount Vernon – Throughout the past month, Brewton-Parker students have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through a variety of special events. On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Brewton-Parker’s Cultural Diversity Committee hosted a Dance Show and Lessons in Lakeside Grill. In addition, the dining hall served a menu tailored to celebrate this same rich culture.
Students enjoyed their time mingling with friends and dancing to various songs from the Hispanic culture. Through this event, students found an opportunity to embrace other cultures as they learned new dance moves to use on the dance floor.
The Hispanic Heritage month events highlight the campus’s diversity. BPC’s faculty alone represent over four continents, six countries, and nineteen states. In addition, the international students represent over thirteen different countries. In this way, our campus represents a variety of cultures across the globe that give our current students a unique experience. This diversity equips students with the knowledge of other cultures and the relationship skills that are essential when interacting with the world.
A special thanks to Dr. Rodriquez Rivera, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, who worked diligently to organize these events for the BPC community.
