In celebration of African-American History month and American diversity, Brewton-Parker College is pleased to announce the second annual Warren C. Crawley Gala. Themed “United for the Next Generation,” this scholarship gala will take place on Feb. 5, 2019, at 6:30 PM.
Hosted at First Baptist Church of Lyons, the semi-formal event will feature special guest speaker, Pastor Fred. J. Luter, Jr., the first African-American past president of the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition, attendees are invited to arrive early for a silent auction. Doors will open at 5:45 PM.
Organized by the descendants of Crawley and the administration of Brewton-Parker College, this event will celebrate Crawley’s legacy by honoring other influential personages in the Southeast Georgia region for their contributions to the community. This year’s honorees include:
- Herbert “Hub” Dudley of Laurens County (posthumous)
- Jimmy Jackson of Laurens County
- Sherrie and Waldo Moody of Bibb County
- Andrea Hinojosa of Toombs County
- Reverend H.W. Miller of Toombs County
- Councilman Greg Johnson of Toombs County
- Dr. Michael Williams of Toombs County
- Patricia Dixon of Montgomery/Toombs County
In addition to honoring these influential community members, the event will also honor and celebrate Crawley’s legacy by raising funds for the Warren C. Crawley Scholarship. This scholarship will assist Brewton-Parker students who, after completing the financial aid process and exhausting all other options, find themselves in need of additional support. All proceeds from the gala will assist in the foundation of this scholarship fund as members of the community unite to provide support for the next generation.
Tickets to the event are limited. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.bpc.edu/tickets or calling Brewton-Parker College’s Office of Advancement at 912-583-3166.
