MOUNT VERNON—Throughout history we encounter tales of exploration, advancement, and the furtherance of understanding. We encounter women such as Esther, of the Bible, who single handedly protected the entirety of the Jewish people from total annihilation – risking her own life in the process. Women such as Amelia Earhart, who decided that she wanted to soar the heights of the sky by becoming the first female pilot to fly across the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. And women such as Rosa Parks, who fought for social change by boldly remaining on that bus.
These are the stories of the women of history – women who should be celebrated. Amazingly enough, these stories are not isolated to the past. Every day, women in the community are making bold changes and have stories to share. Stories which will go down in history.
On Thursday, March 14, several of these influential women in our community will be joining us in the Gilder Recital Hall to tell their stories. Beginning at 10:00 am, this special round table panel will showcase the influence they have had in the community and celebrate their ongoing legacy. Everyone in the community is invited to celebrate Women’s History Month with us by listening to the voices of these incredible and influential female leaders.
