MOUNT VERNON— Join us Thursday, April 4, for this year’s “History Under the Stars” as we celebrate the grand opening of the Historic Village Exhibit. We will be joined by Dr. Mark Huddle, the Associate Professor of History at Georgia College and Director for the Center of Georgia Studies. Tours of the Historic Village will also take place. Beginning at 6:00PM, you can come and experience history with us.
So very often we explore history on the pages of textbooks and from the notes of a lecture, but when we are able to bring history to life, we gain a new understanding that we did not have before. Hence the reason why museums are so important to us – because they capture a point in history and maintain its vitality to the point of bringing new life to the story. To witness history play out through the preservation that museums provide is an irreplaceable experience. However, museums are not the only places where history comes to life. History is brought to life by the people who live it. That same history can be found in our own backyard, here on campus at Brewton-Parker College, and we invite the community to experience it with us.
