Accounting
Overview
A minor in Accounting will teach students to record, analyze and track financial information. Having a basic understanding of accounting will help students as they contribute to the financial side of any business.
Courses

Required Courses
Choose 1 of the following:
ACCT 301 – Intermediate Accounting IÂ Â Â Credit Hours: 3
This course is a study of accounting theory and practice as applied to current liabilities, long term debt, contributed capital, revenue recognition, leases, accounting errors and changes, and pensions.
Prerequisite: ACCT 201Â
ACCT 302 Intermediate Accounting IIÂ Â Credit Hours: 3
This course is a study of accounting theory and practice as applied to current liabilities, long term debt, contributed capital, revenue recognition, leases, accounting errors and changes, and pensions.
Prerequisite: ACCT 301
ACCT 303 Intermediate Accounting IIIÂ Â Â Credit Hours: 3
This course is an in-depth coverage of intermediate accounting principles introduced in BUS 301 and 302, allowing students to gain a fuller understanding of complex topics.
Prerequisite: ACCT 302Â
ACCT 306 Accounting Information Systems   Credit Hours: 3
This course teaches the applications of accounting software including a commercial accounting package, small business package, fixed asset manager and cost manager.
Prerequisite: ACCT 202
ACCT 401 Auditing  Credit Hours: 3
This course teaches auditing functions and practices, with an emphasis on professional responsibilities, audit applications, internal control, legal liability and audit reports.
Prerequisite: ACCT 301 or 302
OR
ACCT 407 Nonprofit Accounting  Credit Hours: 3
This course is the study of accounting principles and practices as applied to state and local governments and nonprofit organizations.
Prerequisite: ACCT 202
You may choose 3 of any ACCT, BUS, CIS, ECON, or MGT course. Must complete 9 credit hours total to satisfy the electives requirement.Â
