Brewton-Parker College has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and assures that it plans to utilize no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

The total amount of funds that Brewton-Parker College will receive from the Department of Education for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students was $224,592

There were 361 students eligible to receive awards under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.  The college disbursed $154,000 of these funds directly to students on May 21.  These funds were disbursed to 361 students who were registered for the spring semester at Brewton-Parker College at the time of the announced National State of Emergency.   The funds were distributed to students based on a student’s EFC as follows:

Additionally, we have sent an email to the same 361 students letting them know we have additional Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students if they had additional expenses related to COVID-19 not covered by the initial disbursement made to them.   As of the date of this report, we have received 60 requests for additional Emergency Financial Aid Grants.  We are currently reviewing those applications to determine which requests will be able to fund considering the immediate needs of the students and their families, the type of request, and the amount of funds available.
