Overview

Working in healthcare is highly rewarding and will give you the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. This concentration is designed to provide a solid foundation in biology and the flexibility to meet prerequisites for graduate and professional programs for a variety of health professions.
Through a BS in Biology with a concentration in Health Professions at BPC, you will study under highly esteemed faculty members who are dedicated both in and out of the classroom. They will serve as your teachers, mentors, and fellow scholars while helping you build a strong foundation for continued studies in a healthcare-related field.
By majoring in Biology students take most or all of the required prerequisite courses as part of their degree program. However, you need to be aware of any specific requirements of particular graduate/professional programs that are not included as required courses in the Health Professions concentration so that you can work with your advisor to add those courses as general electives.
By the time you earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Health Professions from BPC, you will:
- Be able to distinguish data from opinion, as well as the difference between data and interpretation of data
- Have developed your analytical thinking skills, focusing on the application of mathematics and natural sciences to practical problems
- Have acquired the necessary foundational laboratory skills for competency in a practical laboratory setting in any scientific career.
- Be able to conduct adequate statistical analysis of data through research and presentations.
- Have developed the ability to critique the complexity, order and truth in science and mathematics.
