At Brewton-Parker College, we can expand your knowledge of health and wellness, ultimately directing it towards your goals after graduation.
The Bachelor of Science in Sport & Exercise at Brewton-Parker College is split into two concentrations: Pre-Physical Therapy or Health & Human Performance. You have the opportunity to narrow your education depending on your area of interest and plans for the future. Each concentration opens different opportunities to either further your education through a graduate program or immediately entering the workforce.
As you earn you degree, you will learn from highly educated faculty who are equipped with the knowledge and resources you need to grow in your understanding and skill. They will come alongside you, enriching you with their shared passions and experience in areas such as, sports medicine, physical therapy, nutrition, exercise science, and coaching.
When you earn your Bachelor’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science from BPC, you will be able to:
- Well-versed in sport, fitness, and nutrition practice
- Improve athletes’ motor learning tasks and skills to better their athletic performance
- Trained in the prevention and care of athletic injury and strength training methods
- Apply your knowledge of anatomical kinesiology in sport and exercise science skill development

Health & Human Performance
Concentrating in health and human performance includes a variety of courses such as prevention and care of exercise related injuries, sports pharmacology and sport biomechanics. The degree program is more versatile, allowing students the choice between introductory level biology, chemistry and physical science courses or the more rigorous sciences courses offered in the math and science division. The degree program prepares you for a variety of careers by offering internship experiences, focusing on health and performance measurement, and exercise science skills needed both in graduate school and clinical settings.
Pre-Physical Therapy
A Pre-Physical Therapy concentration includes all the pre-requisite coursework needed to allow graduates to apply to physical therapy graduate programs. This degree program is more science and math focused, and requires completion of two semesters of general biology as well as two semesters of general chemistry, and requires completion of more rigorous science courses such as general physics 1 & 2. Juniors and seniors have the opportunity to complete an internship with a licensed physical therapist and complete undergraduate research within the field of exercise science during the capstone course sequence.
